Why do so many Indians try to claim they are white?
We Indians as a whole aren’t white. Yes, you can say Indians and white people have the same skull,nose, hair, and body types and yada yada yada but that alone isn’t sufficient for someone to be white. White people have white or pink skin. Even the lightest Indians do not. Indians vary from a slight tan to brown to nearly black and to add to that mix, you do have some Indians in northeast India who have Chinese features.
Indians should call themselves brown and not be ashamed of it..this applies to even the lightest skinned punjabis or kashmiris or those bollywood celebrities who bleach their skin white.

would not blend in even in southern europe as they look a bit too tanned to pass off as italian or greek or sicilian.
I’ve noticed that, too. Back in high school, I used to hang with a group of Indian girls who would praise the one who had the whitest skin. It was so repulsive, to me, I hated hearing them do it. They would always call themselves white. Their were only a couple that were proud and embraced their heritage.
Well, after HS, I lost contact with them. Then about 3 years later, while browsing myspace, I found a profile belonging to one of the girls, and I was shocked at what I saw. Her name was Natasha. Now, back in HS, Natasha always had the most beautiful, dark curly hair, cappuccino skin, and lovely hazel eyes… But that’s not what I saw on the profile. She had a new look that consisted of bleach blond hair, blue contact lenses and very noticeable peachy-colored make-up that made her look faux-white. I couldn’t believe that this once beautiful Indian girl transformed herself into an ugly, cookie-cutter barbie doll.
No one should be ashamed of having beautiful brown/naturally tan skin. And what bugs me the most is that so many people of color try to look white because it’s “beautiful and acceptable,” and yet white people spend thousands of dollars on the tanning industry, trying to make themselves look tan and darker. Very strange… It baffles me.
… And would people please stop using those ridiculous, obsolete racial terms, which were made by a racist scientist to shamefully categorize everyone.
