Why is my wallpaper losing quality?
I created a PNG file for my desktop background specifically to avoid seeing JPEG compression artifacts, but when I applied it as wallpaper, there were artifacts anyways! I went back and checked the file i used, and it’s still artifact-free.
I’m guessing Windows automatically converts images to jpeg for wallpaper. Does anybody know how to solve this problem?
If image is resized from its original size its quality might vary.
suppost your image size if 640 X 480 Pixel and screen size is 1024 X 768 Pixel, In this case your image is scratched
or if your image is not in ratio of 4 X 3 or you are using widescreen monitor and you have set the wallpaper to Fit to screen size then your image quality will be changed.
make sure you are not using very big or too small image for wallpaper.

if you have set the color depth lesst 16 million Colours
Right click on desktop – Properties – settings and set colour depth near resolution
