What’s so bad about Windows in comparison with Ubuntu?
Ok, I always hear people complain about Windows and how much better Ubuntu is. I have just had a very bad experience with Ubuntu. I dual booted Ubuntu onto my PC with Win XP, and everything seemed fine… until I upgraded to the latest version of Ubuntu 7.10. Immediately after doing that, my PC took a turn for the worst. It wouldn’t even boot up anymore, it would just continuously restart without even getting passed the mobo wallpaper. I eventually figured out how to fix the problem (which wasn’t easy). Anyway, the first thing I did once I got my PC back up was dumped Ubuntu and never want to see it again. From the short time I got to play around with Ubuntu, I just wondered why anyone really likes it over Windows? There is a lot less software available and Windows better supported my hardware. So what exactly is so much better about Ubuntu that actually makes a lot of people conclude that Windows sucks?
I see you had problems upgrading from an earlier version of Ubuntu to 7.10, but have you ever upgraded from Win98 to Win2000? Or Win2000 to XP? I’ve done both, and I wound up formatting my drive and re-installing each time. No matter what OS you use, when that happens, you tend not to use that OS again.
As far as Ubuntu and Linux advantages, the first big reason is price. You most likely bought you copy of Windows pre-installed on your computer. If you had bought it without Windows, it probably would have cost $150 to $200 less than what you spent. What’s more, it would have you cost you as much as $300 to buy it separately. Linux is free.
The next advantage is freedom. You can install Ubuntu (Linux in general) on as many PCs as you want, without worrying about license fees, 25-digit codes, Windows Genuine Advantage, etc. You don’t have to prove you have the right to use Linux. You already have the right to use it.
The third is security. Windows PCs are notorious for having security holes, being used in botnets, and being susceptible to viruses and malware. Linux was engineered so that even if your PC was compromised, the damage would be limited to one login account. There was no Bonsi Buddy version for Linux.
Then there is upgrade speed. Win2000 to XP took 3 years. XP to Vista took 4 years (somebody correct me if I’m wrong). Linux distros have a 6-month release cycle. Now that Ubuntu 7.10 is out, you can see the progress on the Alpha version of Ubuntu 8.04 right now. Linux gets improved at a much faster pace.
Versatility. Windows can only run on PCs and PC-compatibles. Linux can run on PCs, Macs, Sun Workstations, Xboxes, PS3s, Cell Phones, PDAs, ad nauseum.
Speed. Of the top 500 fastest computers in the world, Linux runs 458 of them. Windows runs on six.

Speed up Reboot Your PC from Windows 7 to XP or Vista or Ubuntu
If you have a dual-boot system in your PC, maybe you will fell impatient for waiting your machine rebooting to choose the operating system you want to switch to. Today we will take a look at how to speed up reboot your PC from Windows 7 to XP or Vista or Ubuntu.
iReboot, a small piece of software, can make us skip the above step all together and instantly reboot into the operating system we want right from Windows. Their description shown below:
“Instead of pressing restart, waiting for Windows to shut down, waiting for your BIOS to post, then selecting the operating system you want to boot into (within the bootloader time-limit!); you just select that entry from iReboot and let it do the rest!”
Note: Don’t worry about iReboot will reconfigure your bootloader or any dual boot configuration you have. Actually reboot will only boot the selected operating system once and go back to your default settings.
How to Use iReboot
Just download it (link below), run through the setup and select the default configuration. What’s nice is that iReboot will automatically figure out what operating systems you have installed and appear in the taskbar. Go over to the taskbar and right click on the iReboot icon, then select which operating system you want to reboot into.
This method will add a check mark on the operating system you want to boot into.
The system will automatically load your choice and skip the Windows Boot Manager on your next reboot. If you want to reboot automatically, just select “Reboot on Selection” in the iReboot menu.
Also you can install iReboot into each Windows operating system to quickly access the others with a few simple clicks.
Note: iReboot does not work in Linux so you will have to reboot manually.
Now you need to wait for the Windows Boot Manager to load and select your operating system.
Note: iReboot works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 as well as 64 bit versions of these operating systems. Unfortunately iReboot is only available for Windows but you can still use its functionality in Windows to quickly boot up your Linux machine. A simple reboot in Linux will take you back to Windows Boot Manager.

how to extend wallpaper and taskbar over dual monitors?
I have want to extend my wallpaper and taskbar over my dual monitors so the resolution is 3840 x 1080, how do I do it?
I have single GTX 480 do I need to 2nd one in order to to it?
